Greeting atau salam diucapkan ketika kita bertemu atau akan berpisah dengan seseorang. Salam yang diucapkan harus sesuai dengan waktu atau jam saat diucapkan karena setiap salam yang diucapkan memiliki makna tersendiri. Walaupun greeting ini tampak sederhana, terkadang kita sendiri masih bingung dengan penggunaannya. Untuk lebiih jelasnya, berikut adalah Perbedaan Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening Dan Good Night.

1. Say "Good Morning" if  meet someone at between 00.00 - 12.00

    Ucapkan "Selamat Pagi" jika  bertemu seseorang antara jam 00.00 sampai jam 12.00.

    Misalnya bertemu dengan guru pada jam 07.00 pagi, maka ucapkanlah : 

    Good morning, teacher. (Selamat pagi guru.)

2. Say "Good Afternoon" if meet someone at between 12.00 - 18.00

    Ucapkan "Selamat Siang" jika bertemu seseorang antara jam 12.00 siang 

    sampai jam 18.00 sore.

    Misalnya bertemu dengan Ibu.Yuli pada jam 14.00 atau jam 2 siang, maka ucapkanlah:

    Good afternoon, Mrs.Yuli. (Selamat siang Ibu Yuli.)

3. Say "Good Evening" if meet someone at between 18.00 - 24.00

    Ucapkan "Selamat Malam" jika bertemu seseorang antara jam 18.00 sampai jam 24.00.

    Misalnya bertemu dengan Bapak Iskandar pada jam 19.00 atau jam 7 malam,

    maka ucapkanlah: Good evening, Mr.Iskandar. (Selamat malam Bapak Iskandar.)

4. Say "Good Night" when leave someone in the evening or before going to bed.

    Ucapkan "Selamat Malam" ketika akanmeninggalkan seseorang pada malam hari

    atau salam sebelum tidur.

    Misalnya:

    - Meninggalkan seorang teman  pada jam 21.00, ucapakan:

      Good night, friend. (Selamat malam, teman.)

    - Sebelum tidur mengucapkan salam kepada ibu :

      Good night, mom. Have a nice dream. (Selamat tidur, Ibu. Semoga mimpi indah)
